YorPower Provides Backup Power for a Leading Chemical Company
Background
Our customer is a chemical company specializing in bio solutions for industrial processes. They required a reliable backup power solution to ensure uninterrupted operations in their factory.
As a new customer to YorPower, they approached us with a need for a robust power backup system. Following a site visit to our Sherburn-in-Elmet facility, they selected the YorPower YTP135RSC generator, powered by a Perkins engine, due to its strong reputation and our extensive stock of spare parts for reduced downtime in case of maintenance needs.
The full package supplied included:
- YorPower YTP135RSC Generator
- 10,000L Fuel Tank
- YorPower Manual Transfer Switch
- YorPower Bespoke Special MCCB for power distribution to five separate production machines
- Labour & Installation, including up to 5m of fuel pipework
- Commissioning of the Genset once positioned and installed
The Challenge
The generator was needed to provide backup power to five separate production machines within their factory. Due to historical power outages leading to costly downtime, a 10,000L fuel tank was installed to ensure extended runtime during potential power failures.
One of the unique challenges of this project was the need for a bespoke link box. The customer’s production machines required multiple cable connections that could not be directly accommodated by the generator. The link box was custom-designed and manufactured to handle multiple large steel-wired armored cables and included individual circuit breakers for each machine’s power supply.
Delivery and Installation
The generator was delivered to Greater Manchester, with the entire process taking four months from the initial inquiry to delivery. While the customer’s in-house electrical team handled the cabling installation, YorPower supported the project by providing a full commissioning service and installing the 10000-litre fuel tank with double-skinned steel pipework.
