Foss Barrier Generators Begin Installation
August 6, 2018
The first of four massive generators, shown wrapped for transport from YorPower following FAT testing, was delivered to the Foss Barrier in York on Saturday (4th August) ready to be lifted into place by a 200 tonne crane
Each generator will be capable of producing 1.2 Mega Watts to power the massive water pumps in case of mains failure during flooding.
The lift from St Georges Field car park in the centre of York saw the set being moved in four parts – enclosure, attenuators, genset and exhaust silencer flues. Just three more to go.
