How much does UPS Servicing cost?
The cost of a UPS service depends on a number of factors which includes: How many visits required per annum, type of Service requested, size of UPS and location.
How long does a UPS Service take?
Depending on the size of the UPS and number of accessible batteries that can be tested, a service can be anything between 30 minutes to 6 hours.
How often should you have a UPS Service?
A UPS should have a minimum of one service visit per annum but it is recommended by YorPower that any UPS 10kva and above has 2 visits per annum.
What brands of UPS do you service?
We service all brands of UPS. Some units are software driven which we do not hold the software for, however we have relationships with other companies that do hold software and attend on our behalf as and when required.
What areas do you cover?
We cover all of the UK.
How do you properly take care of a UPS?
Regular maintenance visits from your service provider, changing parts at recommended service intervals (capacitors, fans and batteries), good room temperatures, plenty of ventilation around the UPS and not exceeding the load.
What does a standard UPS package include?
A UPS service includes the following:
- Switch UPS to bypass or open output of one unit if in parallel system (if present).
- Fully power down the UPS and ensure the load is powered via the bypass line or from other parallel units.
- Remove all side panels from the unit.
- Visually check all components and wiring inside the UPS for signs of overheat/age related stress.
- Check that all connections inside the UPS are tight.
- Check capacitors for signs of swelling/heat damage.
- Check fans for rotation/obstructions (by hand).
- Check internal / external batteries for signs of swelling / venting.
- Test all batteries individually for impedance and voltage (record readings)
- Replace all panels on UPS / battery cabinet.
- Re energise UPS with mains only and check for faults.
- Take and record input readings from UPS display.
- Upgrade software if required.
- Switch load from bypass to UPS or close output breaker if parallel system (no interruption should be seen).
- Carry out on load mains failure test for time agreed with customer and record results.
- Download history from UPS if possible

Absolutely. As the saying goes, if you don’t schedule time for maintenance, your equipment will schedule it for you!
